The majority and the opposition are discussing two variants of the prohibition of former employees of the state security to be part not only of politics, but also of election to local functions.
In a statement to the media, the head of the socialist parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, emphasized that this could not be approved before the May 14 local elections, but hopes that it will be approved within this parliamentary legislature. He said that: Two variants of banning former employees of the state security to be part not only of politics, but also of election in local functions are being discussed.
Balla has the political will to set up preventive mechanisms with retroactive power for decriminalization. The mechanism is that when he turns out to be a collaborator of the state security, he loses his mandate, which was our proposal.
As for the opposition, there is a new special law that intervenes through the Files Authority, which has verification powers and takes the final decision; to be elected or not in these functions. What we need is to do them together and go to concrete legal solutions.
Will it be approved by the end of July?
Balla: I believe.
We will go with our proposal, the opposition has another, we are open to discuss any form. The final result is important. Today is an important moment where there is broad consensus" .
