The Socialist Party convened the Presidency this afternoon.
At the meeting it was decided that the National Assembly should convene on 7 May. The Assembly will implement the decisions of the Congress concerning matters of reorganization of the party.
The Presidency also discussed the steps that will be taken by the majority for the election of the new President of the Republic and the attitude it will take towards the opposition in this matter.
The Socialist Party has opened an internal process for proposing and selecting presidential candidates, while in parallel it has started discussions with the opposition and civil society.
The SP has made it clear that it wants to choose a consensual candidate, despite having the necessary votes to vote alone in the Assembly after the third round.
