Ambassador Yuri Kim has the full support of President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Asia Karen Donfried returned this response. She was in Tirana for a visit, where she met with Prime Minister Edi Rama and opposition MPs Enkelejd Alibeaj, Jorida Tabaku and Gazment Blanci.
"I can assure you that President of the United States Joe Biden, Secretary of State of the United States Tony Blinken and I, we all have full confidence in Ambassador Yuri Kim and it is a great pleasure that we have people of her calibre and with her integrity in the U.S. government and I think this country too, Albania, there could be no more luck than to have it as my country's representative and working every day to strengthen what is already an important relationship between the United States and Albania," the ambassador said in an interview for Voice of America.
Her statement was made after the addition of attacks on Yuri Kim by broad segments of the opposition for interference in internal democratic party affairs.
Regarding the meeting with the three Deputies, Alibeaj, Tabaku and Blanci, Donfried said he had met them in the quality of opposition leaders.
