The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has filed a recourse with the High Court, opposing the decision of the Appeals Court of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo that left in force the security measure " prison arrest ".
In his request, the former president requests the easing of the security measure, arguing that the legal conditions and criteria to keep him in detention do not exist.
He claims that the measure is unjustified and disproportionate to the circumstances of the case.
The former president's request for release from prison has been previously rejected by all three levels of the judiciary, which have decided to keep him in prison.
The leader of the Freedom Party has also addressed the Constitutional Court, claiming that the decisions of the three levels of the judiciary that have left the arrest measure in force are unconstitutional and violate the European Convention on Human Rights.
Ilir Meta has been in prison since October 2024, and is accused by SPAK of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets, in collaboration with his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi, and 3 others.
