Ulsi Manja, as a member of the Socialist Party on the Council of Mandates and Immunities, read the Socialists' report expressing opposition to SPAK's request for authorization to arrest Belinda Balluku.
From the Parliament podium, Manja stated that the Socialists have proposed the rejection of this request.
"We have proposed rejecting SPAK's request to authorize the arrest of Ms. Balluku," said Manja at the start of the reading of this report.
"On behalf of the majority members of this Council, at the moment we presented the report, a new factual and institutional reality has occurred that changes the nature of the assessment and review of SPAK's request," he said, referring to her dismissal as deputy prime minister and minister, saying that there is no risk of evidence being tampered with.
"Today it has turned into a politically overloaded debate instead of a calm, fair and legal process. We have seen attempts to move this issue to a public trial that contradicts the principle of the presumption of innocence. Today, the assembly should separate politics from justice, and public trial from due process," Manja added, calling for a vote against the request.
