Today, the fate of the Democratic Party will be decided for the May 14 elections. The CEC will decide which of the camps, Alibeaj's or Berisha's, will register to compete against the others in the local elections.
Today, the registration request was approved for 7 parties, including the big ones, while the day before it was approved for 42 others.
After this preliminary registration, coalitions are applied for on March 15 and then, on March 27, the list of candidates for mayor and the multi-name list of candidates for municipal councils according to coalition or party affiliation are filed. Then lots are drawn for the ranking on the ballots. In April, the distribution of annual funds, but also for the campaign, is expected.
The campaign officially starts on April 14. May 13 is election silence and May 14 is voting day.
The decision of the CEC remains to be seen, while on March 3, the Court of Appeal decided to overturn Agron Zhurki's decision of March 25, 2022 and return the case for retrial at the First Instance with a different panel.
After this decision, what Agron Zhukri decided is considered null and the case returns to the first instance. Now the stamp, sigla, logo of the Democratic Party remains with Lulzim Basha, as he is officially registered in the Court of Tirana, and it is expected that Alibeajt's group will be registered with the logo of the largest opposition force in the country for the next elections of May 14.
