Germany is taking our doctors? Rama: We cannot ask them to stop them

The issue of the departure of Albanian doctors to Germany was one of the points discussed today in Berlin with the German chancellor.

Speaking at the joint press conference, the Albanian Prime Minister said that he has discussed with his counterpart to find a solution for Albania to balance what is lost after the departure of doctors from the Albanian health system.

" We also discussed this issue. We cannot ask Germany or any EU country to stop the free movement of human capital and to stop the free movement of those from Albania who want to try life in their profession.

We discussed with the Chancellor how we should find ways so that Albania is not actually the direct financier of the German health system.

I explained to the Chancellor that our medical students pay 1/16 of the cost, while the rest is paid by the Government. It is very important that we find a way, that it be a European way to balance what Albania loses in this very important phase ", said Rama.

While the German chancellor said that " We talked about this issue. It is a big challenge. Free movement is a great achievement of the EU. It has given citizens the feeling that you cannot travel alone as a tourist. Many challenges are associated with this freedom today. It is very important that our country feels responsible that the great need for jobs is not covered only by the EU countries, but also outside it .
