President Bajram Begaj has reacted to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Through a status on social networks, he condemned the attack, saying that such acts have no place in a democracy.

"Saddened to learn of the assassination of President Donald Trump. I wish President Trump a speedy recovery and offer my deepest condolences for the loss of an innocent life. We strongly condemn this attack and all forms of political violence, which have no place in democracy", writes Begaj.

There was also a reaction from Prime Minister Edi Rama, who described it as a tragedy in the democratic world.

"It is disturbing to witness a candidate for President of the United States being shot while speaking at a rally and to hear that one attendee has died with several others injured. This is a tragedy for the democratic world. My thoughts are with former President Trump and his family. We all hope that this terrible event will unite America and all the people of the democratic world against all forms of violence", writes Rama.

Trump has spoken after the gun attack saying that "he will never surrender".

Trump was escorted from the podium by Secret Service agents after gunshots rang out. He was seen bleeding from the ear and face, but is reportedly in good condition.

One person from the public was killed and two others are in serious condition, while the assassin was executed by the Secret Service.
