The opposition candidate for the municipality of Himara, Petro Gjikuria, has been made official.
A day after the news of his candidacy from the PBDNJ ranks, Gjikuria reacted today with a post on social networks.
Among other things, he says that he was born in Dhërmi and that he comes from a family that fought for two sacred things: for the Country and for Democracy.
"I have worked hard in Greece and in the USA and I have learned a lot working in the culinary and hotel fields, but also in various organizations of the diaspora and I want to put all this knowledge and experience to the function of my country, working together with my fellow citizens for the well-being and development of Himara in all areas", he says.
Petro Gjikuria's reaction:
Himare Municipality has no more time to waste. For years, our country Himara, Lukova and Vranishti have been left behind while the world progresses. A blessed country, with amazing natural beauty, with skilled and hardworking people who have excelled everywhere in the world, today is not worthy of the opportunities, not for our ancestors, not for its citizens, and even more for our children. .
For 12 years, the Municipality did not have the strength to plan and materialize what is needed. A partisan mayor, an enforcer of government orders, wasted too much time doing too little.
When the citizens of Himara decided to change the mayor, they were not allowed. The former mayor who lost the elections continued to remain in charge of the Municipality and the winning Mayor, Fredi Beleri, found himself behind bars on fabricated charges. During all this time, Himara remained without a mayor.
Seeing all this and after learning about the announcement of local elections on August 4, I made the decision to take a step forward for the country, to announce my candidacy for Mayor of Himara and to ask political parties, various associations and every fellow citizen to support this candidacy and move forward together for the tomorrow of Himara.
I was born in Dhërmi and I come from a family that fought for two sacred things: for the Country and for Democracy. I have worked hard in Greece and in the USA and I have learned a lot working in the field of culinary and hospitality, but also in various organizations of the diaspora and I want to put all this knowledge and experience to the function of my country, working together with my fellow citizens for the welfare and development of Himara in all areas.
On August 4, we don't vote to elect the Prime Minister, we vote for the Mayor! We vote for Himara's tomorrow!
Tomorrow in Himar Municipality there will be no exceptions, there will be no children of mother and stepmother, permanent and temporary residents, socialists and democrats, ours and theirs.
There will be no corruption, there will be no uncertainty about the wealth of every citizen, there will be no appointed Mayor who blindly follows the orders of all those who want to usurp our properties, wherever they may be.
We are all residents of Himara and we must not allow anyone to divide us, no matter how high he is. Above all and first of all is the interest of the area!
Tomorrow there is a program for the Himar Municipality, the one decided by the citizens with a majority of votes in May of last year.
Tomorrow there are jobs, there are solutions, there are investments, there is Europe, there is Democracy, which is guaranteed first and foremost by the mayor. There is a Mayor who will have open doors in Tirana, in Brussels, in Athens, but also in Washington, to seek the best for Himara's tomorrow.
With these words, I ask for your support and vote!
Petro Gjikuria
Candidate for Mayor of Himar Municipality
