Two Republican congressmen, Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz, have requested full investigative information on Charles McGonigal. CBS News reports that the congressmen are seeking information from the FBI regarding all meetings, communications and people who worked with the former agent while he was in office.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and Rep. Matt Gaetz in a letter to FBI Director Chris Wray request that the information be made available to them by February 16 of this year, 5 p.m. sharp.

To assist the Judicial Committee in carrying out their verifications, the following information is requested in the letter:

1. All personnel records of Charles McGonigal, with United States security clearance forms and any other related documents.

2. All documents and communications referring to or relating to the FBI's evaluation of and response to the Charles McGonigal investigation.

3. All documents and communications referring to or relating to actions taken or planned to be taken by the FBI to mitigate threats to national security by Charles McGonigal.

"Please submit the requested information to us as soon as possible, no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 16, 2023," the letter also reads.

In addition, the Judiciary Committee requests that a member-level conference be held to discuss the FBI's investigation of Charles McGonigal, which will ask: What process is the FBI using to review decisions made by McGonigal while on the job? ?

Therefore, McGonigal is burdened with several charges from the Federal Court in New York, the main one being his collaboration with Oleg Deripaska (a Russian tycoon connected to Vladimir Putin).

Deripaska has been under US sanctions since 2018, and federal prosecutors allege that McGonigal and Sergey Shestakov, a former Russian diplomat turned US citizen, worked for Deripaska to investigate an unnamed rival Russian oligarch in 2021.

McGonigal is also facing federal charges in Washington, DC, related to at least $225,000 in cash he allegedly received from Albanian-American Agron Neza.

Jordan and Gaetz are demanding that Wray turn over to the committee all records and communications that will emerge from the comprehensive investigation.
