The Democratic Party expelled the group's chairman Dritan Burgija, as well as councilor Arlind Boshku, from its group of councilors in the Municipality of Durres.

The reason is the support they have given to the movement of former MP Ervin Salianji, which seeks reform of the leadership structures of the blue headquarters.

According to the official decision, the expulsion was made "in accordance with the party's statute and internal regulations", for "violation of provisions related to ethics and integrity".

In the document titled "On the changes in the group of DPA advisors in the Durrës Municipal Council", it is emphasized that "the decision is based on articles 24, 40 and 48 of the DPA statute, as well as the Code of Conduct and the law "On local self-government".

The decision also proposes the appointment of Ardian Muka as candidate for the new chairman of the group of democratic councilors in the Durrës Municipal Council.

Burgija and Boshku have given their support to former MP Ervin Salianji, at a time when discussions are taking place within the Democratic Party, while the date of the race for its leader has been set for May 23.

The decision is dated March 23, 2026 and was signed by the Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Flamur Noka.
