Prime Minister Edi Rama and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni have discussed, among other things, the possibility of building a nuclear power plant in Albania.
It is the Italian newspaper Quotidiano, which details the informal discussions between Ram and Melon during the latter's visit to Vlora.
According to the Italian newspaper, Rama and Meloni discussed political issues between the two countries, entrepreneurship, immigration, the war in Ukraine and the hypothesis of building a nuclear power plant in Albania.
"Moreover, political issues affecting the two Adriatic coasts, from the (massive, so far) presence of Italian entrepreneurs to immigration, from the war in Ukraine to the Albanian future in the EU were not lacking. On the table of an informal conversation, the hot topics of energy and relations between the EU and the balkan countries. The issue of the Adriatic underwater pipeline, the hypothesis of the construction of a nuclear power plant on the Albanian territory and the assessment of the tourist boom that brought hundreds of thousands of Italians to the former bastion of communism," the Italian newspaper writes.
Powerful Western states have turned to the idea of nuclear energy after the crisis that led to the ukrainian occupation. Building a nuclear power plant in Albania, although it looks more like a fantasy, could only be accomplished with the assistance of almost 100% of foreigners.
