The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, and his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, will appear tomorrow at the premises of the Special Prosecutor's Office to be officially acquainted with the charges against them.
According to journalist Anila Hoxha, Berisha will be presented with the charge at 12:00, while his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi will be presented at 2:00 p.m.
Invited to the show "Breaking" by Fiori Dardha, Anila Hoxha said that tomorrow the status of Sali Berisha, who until now has the status and quality of the person under investigation, is expected to change.
"The Special Prosecutor's Office is within the time limits for closing investigative actions. The rule stipulates that tomorrow the request will be submitted to be asked about the findings of the investigation group for the Partizani file so far. Tomorrow, after the interrogation and confrontation with the facts is exhausted, it is also expected that the status of the former prime minister will change from a person under investigation to the status of a defendant. The rule also requires that the accusation be communicated in writing, so not only verbally, to him and his defense attorney. Only in this way is it considered an official and rebuttable charge, but it also puts Sali Berisha in the position to prepare his defense and the movements he will have in the future", said Anila Hoxha to Fiori Dardha in Breaking.
The chronicler also said that it is expected that Sali Berisha will be charged with corruption and money laundering.
"If we refer to the constant positions of the prosecutor's office, especially for many other persons, as persons under investigation in other files, we have seen that the position of SPAK is mainly and mostly the same as it was in the initial moments of the investigation, therefore, held the same positions in relation to criminal offenses. Simply put, if we stick to this exact formula that SPAK has maintained, most likely former Prime Minister Sali Berisha can be charged with the same criminal offenses for which he, until these hours, has maintained the status of a person under investigation and there was also a security measure against him. The criminal offenses for which he is still under investigation are corruption and money laundering, as well as for Jamarbër Malltez and businessman Fatmir Bektashi".
However, according to the journalist, the investigations will not be closed tomorrow.
"Whatever happens the next day, whatever procedural action happens the next day, it is not the last action that happens with the investigation file. It will be necessary that within the month of October, after communicating and changing the status from a person under investigation to a defendant, the special prosecutor's office will have to carry out the last investigative actions and further it will have to declare the closure of the investigations in written form and submit to the preliminary judge".
