DP MP, Gjin Gjoni, shortly before the start of the opposition protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, called on the State Police not to behave like they did at the previous rally, stating that "we are ready to face the blue uniforms."
According to Gjoni, the opposition protests have had their effect and we now have a heightened awareness of international opinion regarding the Rama government.
"Against the forecasts, today is a rainy day, and in front of the DP there are people huddled in shelters and bars, but I believe that people will still come out today regardless of the weather conditions. After the resolution of the EP Foreign Affairs Committee, which has identified all cases of violations, which is the best report for the DP, but black for the Albanian state.
All the protests have had their effects. We have raised awareness among international opinion. Even the IDU resolution has highlighted everything that the DP and the opposition have raised in relation to the government, the links between crime and politics, high levels of corruption, the involvement of senior officials. Even the latest report of the Foreign Affairs Committee has again dotted the i's and the majority has come out naked not only in relation to Albanians, but also internationals.
"The DP only has the right to announce the place and time of the protest. It is not the police's obligation to grant or deny permission, this right has been granted by the Constitution. The police should not behave like in the last protest! We are ready to confront the police. The protest will be peaceful and the police's obligation is to avoid confrontations," Gjoni told A2.
