In the committee for Finance and Economy this Tuesday, the salary increase for public administration employees was examined, while the salary change for MPs and ministers was not included.

This meeting was accompanied by strong debates where the democratic deputy Agron Shehaj was present , who requested that the deputies be included in the salary increase scheme.

He was opposed by Minister Delina Ibrahimaj , who said that the salary increase for MPs and ministers will be done at a later time.

Ibrahimaj : The salary in the public administration will go up to 900 euros in two steps. The first step has just started and the second step will be during the next year.

With the determination of the President's salary as the highest salary, some functions created within the framework of the justice reform are also connected.

They practically benefit. Regarding the salary coefficients for the positions related to the institutions of the Assembly and the Executive, they have been adjusted without changing the current salary level to be reconsidered at a second moment, because we intended to focus first on the finalization of this policy new salary increase for a larger category of beneficiaries, such as all employees of the central and local public administration.

Shehaj : You have excluded ministers and MPs from the proposal for salary increases. With what you have done, if I am not mistaken, the General Director, Ms. Dëmbi, will have a higher salary than yours.

Ibrahimaj : Actually yes. The proposal that we brought to the Assembly does not provide for an increase in salaries for ministers and deputies. We wanted all other categories to benefit from the salary increase and at the end of this, we would bring an initiative to revise the coefficients for cabinet members and MPs. We will bring it later as a proposal.

Shehaj : You are saying that the salaries of deputies and ministers are less important than the salaries of other employees of the administration. Does it seem normal to you that the directors accompanying them today have a higher salary than?

Ibrahima j: The goal was to complete the reform and less to determine the salary of the minister and deputy.

Agalliu: Kuvendi që miraton pagën e Inspektorit, ka rrogë sa gjysma e inspektorit. Kjo nuk bën sens. Nëse duam të ruajmë dinjitetin e çdo individi, të nisë rritja me Presidentin, të shkojë te Kryeministri, të shkojë më pas te ministri e deputeti.

Spaho: Paga e deputetit nuk është indeksuar prej vitesh. Unë mban mend që me këtë pagë e kam filluar që në vitin 2005. Madje deputetit i thuhet edhe që të blejë makinën me lekët e tij dhe të bëjë punën e qeverisë.
