Denunciation: Edi Rama gives towers up to 58 floors to oligarchs, approves 41
Prime Minister Edi Rama

A total of 41 construction and development permits have been approved by Prime Minister Edi Rama, as chairman of the National Territorial Council, including 7 construction permits for the construction of towers up to 58 floors in Tirana.

According to the denunciation of the "Joint Movement", the tower has benefited the so-called oligarchs from Ilir Shtufi, Agron Meçe, Agron Papuli to Rrok Gjoka, of Gjoka Construction and Petrit Ismaili.

"At the meeting of December 26, the National Council of the Territory, chaired by Edi Rama, approved for one hour 41 construction and development permits. Among them are 7 construction permits for new towers in the city of Tirana.

In fulfillment of our mission to boldly proclaim the truth, especially about the oligarchs and partners of organized crime, the TOGETHER Movement lists with certainty the names of the firms and their owners that will build the new towers in Tirana", denounces the TOGETHER Movement.

"The first beneficiaries are the companies Develalb Construction, with the main shareholder Ilir Shtufin, and Edonin Konstruktion, with the main shareholder Agron Meçen, which will build a tower with 41 floors above ground on Muhamet Gjollesha street. We remind you that the firm of the oligarch Shtufi is destroying the park behind the National Theater of Opera and Ballet to build, according to them, the tallest tower in the Balkans.

A 58-storey tower will be built on Kavaja street by the Classi S&J company owned by the oligarch Agron Papuli. In Tirana, the tower called "Hometoën Multifunctional Complex" will be built by the company Epoch Construction owned by Altin Çela. The oligarch strongly connected with the government and the Municipality of Tirana, Shkëlqim Fusha, whose company Fusha sh.pk will build a 33-story tower, could not be missing as a beneficiary of the building permits", are some of the multi-story towers that will rise in Tirana.

The list continues with the 36- and 19-story towers.

On Hysni Gerbolli street, the oligarch Rrok Gjoka, owner of Gjoka Konstruksion, will build, which has obtained permission to build a tower with 36 floors above ground. A 19-story tower will be built on Liman Kaba Street by the company TDT & Partners, owned by Petri Ismaili.

"In a city where public space is extremely insufficient, the construction of seven new towers is not only an urban but also a social crime. The citizens of Tirana will have less space, the air will be much more polluted by particles dangerous to health and the traffic will intensify. All this in a city from which more and more citizens are choosing to leave for Western European countries.

According to international authorities, in Albania, and especially in Tirana, construction is the main sector of organized crime money laundering. Investment capital often comes from criminals involved in the cocaine trade, who use businessmen without sufficient capital or completely anonymous people as "hosts". Others, oligarchs enriched over the years by procurement or concessions, continue to earn at a rate outside the logic of the market, who use preferential access to the rulers, offering them in exchange a percentage of the value of the construction, the financing of electoral campaigns and access to privileged in the media.

The TOGETHER movement is the only political entity in Albania that has the courage and determination to denounce the corrupt relationship between oligarchs, exponents of organized crime and political power. Not only that, but we are committed to raising public awareness to organize against the cancer of corruption and oligarchic degradation of the state and the economic structure", declares the Joint Movement.
