Berisha headed for arrest! Parliament votes today on the immunity of the former

The Parliament of Albania will meet today in one of the most important plenary sessions, where it is expected to give the authorization for the arrest of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha. After the Constitutional Court did not take into consideration the lawsuit of the Reestablishment MPs, the Assembly now has the way open to remove the mandate of MP Berisha and to send him to prison.

Then it will be the Special Prosecutor's Office that will decide what coercive measure will be required for Berisha, 'house arrest' or 'prison arrest', who is under investigation for the 'Partizani' affair.

Not many surprises are expected, as the socialists will vote in favor of SPAK's request. Likewise, the Democratic Party has openly declared its vote in favor of SPAK's request for the arrest of Berisha, while Enkelejd Alibeaj was also present at the meeting of the Council of Mandates. Although the SP and Enkelejd Alibeaj submitted separately to the Assembly the reports that will be voted on today, their request is the same, that the parliament pave the way for SPAK's request that requires the removal of Sali Berisha's immunity and then his arrest.

The votes of the deputies of the Bardhi group, who actually signed the lawsuit sent to the Constitutional Court, are awaited with interest. Bardhi and his followers did not participate in Berisha's first protest in front of the Assembly, but joined the action inside the plenary sessions, lighting smoke and creating chaos.

The same scenario is expected to be implemented today, where the Reestablishment MPs will create chaos in the plenary session while voting will be held for the arrest of the former prime minister. On the other hand, the latter has also called the few remaining militants to protest.
