White: Military police return to military object protection powers

DP MP Gazment Blanci says the law changes that stripped the military police of the competence of protecting bases and other army objects was wrong.

"On 21 July 2022 Edi Rama decided that the Military Police should no longer protect military objects, but must protect the Defence Minister and other senior civilian officials of the Ministry of Defence. Opposition opposition even in this case was not heard and the law was adopted by cardboard force in Parliament," Blanci writes.

The PD MP says the two identical events within 24 hours in Gramsh and Polican make it necessary to return the military police in defence of these objects.

The authorities responsible, Blanci says, have an obligation to clarify and make full transparency for the circumstances of the event in Gramsh and Polican, including the performance of Albanian institutions of law lesson and national security.

"The President of the Republic has the institutional obligation to call with urgency the meeting of the National Security Council, to assess the level of security in the military objects of the Albanian state. Violating security at military facilities seriously puts a NATO member state's national security at risk. If this risk also comes from erratic political decisions, such as lowering the level of preservation in these objects, there must undoubtedly be political responsibility. Albanian state military objects cannot be treated as "inns without gates", as Edi Rama has in fact returned the state and public institutions", Writes Blanci.
