Azgan Haklaj, the former deputy of the Democratic Party, says that Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta were interested in the murder of Lulzim Basha in order to take the PD by force.

In a television interview, Haklaj said that even the January 8 protest was an attempt to kill Basha.

"What happened on January 8 was another attempt to kill Basha. Berisha said that we are going to save the headquarters from the Muslim brotherhood of Tetova, while there was no October or anyone from Montenegro. They were all DP democrats. Berisha threw accusations of giving religious characters within the DP. On January 8, we had a coup. Basha closed the doors to avoid violence", said Haklaj.

According to him, Berisha has no economic program, just demagoguery for the people who follow him.
