The Ambassador of the European Union, Christiane Hohmann, has closely watched the progress of the electronic voting process in the city of Elbasan.
She stopped at Voting Center 2351 where she was informed about the progress of the process while calling on Albanian citizens to participate massively in the elections to exercise their fundamental right.
"It is a pleasure to be in Elbasan to visit one of the electronic voting centers. As you may have seen, the process is proceeding normally, without any problem, and citizens are exercising their right to vote.
My call for today is that as many citizens as possible exercise their right to vote and the day continues without problems and peacefully.
What the citizens will decide today is who will govern the city in the next 4 years, who will be their representatives in the Municipal Councils" , said Hohman.
The EU Ambassador was asked by journalists about the claims of Candidate Luciano Boçi for pressure on voters. Hohmann said that OSCE-ODIHR observers have been deployed in all voting centers and their report will be indicative of the problems encountered.
"I am very happy that the OSCE has a full team of observers in Albania. You know that 10 days ago they gave their preliminary conclusions about the current findings. Let us wait for the next day when you have their report after the elections to see their finding", the ambassador added.
