The head of the Delegation of the European Union in Albania, Ambassador Silvio Gonzato, has stated that in relation to membership in the Union, there should be a parliamentary dialogue and the parties should consider integration as a national priority.

In a meeting held today at the Presidency of the Assembly, with the Speaker of the Assembly Elisa Spiropali and the leaders of the institutions, Gonzato stated that he had three messages regarding the integration process, highlighting the need for independent institutions and justice.

The EU ambassador also made a comment regarding the implementation of the Constitutional Court, which has sparked many debates in Albanian politics recently, after the majority did not vote in the Assembly, sending the case of Olta Xhaçka to the Constitutional Court.

Gonzato stated that the decisions of the Conciliator must be implemented as they come from it.

"I am grateful to participate in this meeting, a way for me to emphasize the partnership that should be established between the institutions.

I have three messages:

1-I want to emphasize the importance of independent institutions in the context of EU membership.
You are at a critical stage and you are working hard to open the first chapters. This parliament has a key role to play. You have adopted ambitious roadmaps for the administration, which include concrete reforms and most of them become reality if there is a strong mobilization.
I can consider it an effort of the entire state.

Successful negotiations require international dialogue and institutional cooperation.
I hope that it will be considered a strategic national priority in the Assembly by all parties. Parliament is the center to have a constructive dialogue.

2-The decisions of the Constitutional Court must be implemented as they emerge from this institution. Steps must be taken for an independent judicial system that must guarantee that justice delivers integrity to citizens

3- The EU will continue to support Albania on the road to the EU.
