The President of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, in a statement to the media this Wednesday, accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of being involved in the international traffic of toxic waste.
Meta said that, at the height of this scandal, Rama secretly reinstates the draft law on the import of garbage.
"Two major issues, one is alarming and scandalous, worrying international environmental and health organizations as well. We are here to condemn the Rama government's secret return of the trash import bill, right at the height of the explosion of the scandal of Edi Rama's involvement in the international traffic of toxic waste. Garbage has turned into a deep mine of corruption and the extortion of hundreds of millions of euros every day, but also the poisoning of Albanian citizens," said Meta.
"Edi Rama has made a state export of thousands of tons of toxic waste to Thailand and China. An international mafia operation, annihilating the highest institutions of security and law, from SPAK, SHISH, Police, customs and others. Today, these institutions bear no public responsibility for at least 215 containers of toxic waste, which were sent from Elbasan to Durrës and then to China and Thailand.
In no case can such a criminal operation, with the involvement of so many state actors, happen without their knowledge", said Meta.
