Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi

Tonight, the show "Inside Story" on Top Channel brought an investigative report on the political-family binomial Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi that has imposed political balances in 3 decades of pluralism.

"Meta and Kryemadhi entered the PS with the creation of FRESSH in January '91, they were prominently involved in that structure that the SP needed because it was under pressure to transform", said the deputy of the PS, Petro Koçi.

"A special role in approaching them was played by Musa Ulqini, and by some other friend after they were given guidance then to approach the young people, that the contingent of ex-communists was present, especially the middle-aged and old", said former deputy Spartak Braho.

Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi entered politics from different paths. With the ambitions they had, they managed to impose themselves in party leadership positions. Along the way, they fell in love, got together and created the political binomial we all know.

Ilir Meta's political path began as early as the movement of December 1990. Although he was not among the distinguished, whenever the opportunity arises, he takes care to emphasize the commitment of the first hours. He stood out for his strong ambitions.

"Ramiz Alia played with them at that time, he managed to bring students who were actually accomplices of the security to the movement. One of these was Ilir Meta, but Meta approached and was part of DP at that time and it was planned to be in DP together with Majko and they were with Berisha even when the student strike took place", said lawyer Idajet Beqiri.

"All I can say is that Meta has never been an accomplice of the security, for many reasons, other pirouettes may exist", said former deputy Braho.

Monika Kryemadhi was an energetic high school student who stood out among the founders of the Eurosocialist Youth Forum in 1991. In February 1992, she was elected General Secretary of FRESSH with the strong support of Pandeli Majko. But the friendship between them would soon fade. A rising star was approaching on the FRESSH leadership forums. It was the 23-year-old deputy of Skrapar, Ilir Meta. Many of the activists of the left from the first hours, have seen with doubt his role since the first steps of politics.

"It is now clear that he has been connected with Berisha since those years, and his struggle within the SP seemed to be often synchronized with the pressure that Berisha exerted on the SP and mainly on the figure of Nano", said the PS deputy of Petro Koçi.

"Meta's relationship with Gazidede is also Monika's, she actually had a relationship from the beginning, not that they were from one side and they have something to do with Dibra, Gazidede greatly influenced Monika's rise to politics", said the lawyer Idajet Beqiri.

"In that period, I don't think that Ilir Meta was a Trojan Horse", said former deputy Braho.

In 1992, Meta's immunity was revoked and he was in danger of being imprisoned. Everything was related to the aggravation in violent episodes of a protest in Poliçan. He was charged as the organizer of the gathering that risked destabilizing the country. Not only did he overcome the difficulty, but Meta stood out as an opponent.

"It was a very important moment when he was stopped by the police after a strike in Polican, there apparently also begins a story of doubt and questions about his moral integrity in the sense of reliability or loyalty to the party where he was making a career" , MP Koçi said.

"Even though it looked like he was against Berisha, in fact Berisha controlled Meta, that's all it took to kill two birds with one stone. Meta did the job he saw the protest by the way he acted and saw it. On the other hand, he gained a lot because Saliu took him with the idea of strengthening his positions, thinking that he was being persecuted, his immunity was being taken away and he could go to prison", said lawyer Beqiri.

"Everything must be based on evidence and facts, evidence and facts have not yet come out which are about a deal between Berisha's government and Meta as one of the new leaders of the SP in FRESSH, but the SP has had such provocations constantly" , said former deputy Braho.

"Visa Business"

In 1995, Monika Kryemadhi was elected president of FRESSH for Tirana. It was interesting that the Electoral Commission was headed by her partner, Ilir Meta.

That same year, Meta was elected president of FRESSH. Ironically, the president of the electoral commission was Monika Kryemadhi. The campaign was aggressive. In the end, all those who thought otherwise, were sidelined after Ilir Meta took over the direction of FRESSH.

"His temperament for career, achievement, naturally justifiable for a career in #politics has been introduced. If you are making a career, you will also use elbows. there was a clash between him and Majko who was going to run the forum, they found a medium, they split it up, sometimes Pandi and sometimes Meta", said former deputy Braho.

"How did the 23-year-old become a deputy, etc., it was done precisely from this school in quotes that Berisha created and threw them here, that is, these deputies became part of what was controlled, Iliri was known to have a file and Saliu brought him as a confidant and was taken to one of the safest areas, which was Skrapari", said lawyer Beqiri.

In 1995, Monika Kryemadhi was elected vice-president of the Socialist Youth International. Her partner Meta was secretary for foreign relations in the Socialist Party. They gained great power within the party for the relations they had with the internationals. Even the favors they did by securing visas for FRESSH youths was a method that empowered them by extending influence. Delegations were often organized with young people traveling to the West. Some of them never came back.

"It has been seen more as a type of business opportunity", said MP Koçi.

"The big affair they did was with visas, they used to go to embassies with documents, they said they were trusted by the Party, with signatures and seals. If I take you to the embassies, I know how long they are kept in the archives to see the requests made by Meta and Kryemadhi for visas in the name of what they belong to our party, etc., so many were taken and against large sums", said lawyer Idajet Beqiri. .
