The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Blendi Gonxhe, has publicly reacted to news that he describes as false and intentional, according to which it was claimed that he had spent 2,700 euros for a one-night stay in Dubai.
Gonxhe explains that the amount in question pertains to a delegation of five people for three nights and that the real cost per person was 180 euros per night.

FAKE NEWS LIES
Portals that make fun of the holidays for the people's troubles, tell me that I paid 2,700 Euros for one night in Dubai! The amount in question was paid for a delegation of 5 people, and for 3 nights, making the cost per person 180 Euros/night! The public knows that the hotel market everywhere in the world has experienced price increases and there are of course cases when rates are high, depending on dates, seasons, events and often the stay is related to events that take place in the same hotels and structures and if you do not book in them you may incur higher costs for transfers and movements by taxi or dedicated transport, wasting time and not maximizing the agenda. But should we abuse this with deliberately fabricated news? Isn't it shameful to make such insinuations? As the minister responsible for tourism, I will definitely travel and participate in visits to many countries and activities, it is an inevitable part of my job, because we seek connections, tourism bridges and internationalization, and I am completely open to informing if a media outlet is interested, but why so? Why lie so blatantly without doing any verification with my Cabinet or MTKS?
"Blendi Gonxhe paid 2700 Euros for 1 night in Dubai with Albanian lek!!!"? NO! The portals lie shamelessly! In fact, I paid 180 Euros for 1 night!!! (even cheaper than the price for that hotel on the Booking website: 161 + 43 tax = 204 Euro/night, illustrated in the album)
And yes, I met and was welcomed by my counterparts, more precisely with the Minister of Economy & Tourism and the Minister of Sports (published), in addition to a very busy agenda of working meetings in Dubai and Yas Marina (Abu Dhabi), United Arab Emirates! Invited to one of the most important hospitality fairs, "Future Hospitality Summit - Dubai, 2025", where Albania was presented by the most beautiful pavilion ever with the most prominent tourism and accommodation projects and developments and where I spoke in a forum panel about our country, as well as invited many prestigious companies to get to know our reality and consider investing in the Albanian economy. (Also illustrative photos in the album)
I understand being critical of the government, but slandering it so basely is unjustifiable, wrong, and serves neither the public interest, nor the media, nor Albania at all!
