For seven days now, you have been facing difficult situations, with long hours of service, tension and serious acts of violence. Many of you have been injured in the line of duty.

Today I want to personally express my gratitude, respect and full support to you. I know that behind every uniform there is a person, a parent, a spouse, a son or a daughter, who someone anxiously awaits at home.

No attack on you is acceptable. No act of violence can be justified.

I ask you to continue your duty with professionalism, calmness and determination, respecting at all times the law and the dignity of every citizen.

I wish a speedy recovery to my injured colleagues and assure you that you will not be alone in facing these challenges.

I am proud of every police officer who serves the country with honesty and dedication.

Stay strong, united and loyal to your mission.
