A completely surreal moment happened before one of the Olympic competitions in the swimming pool of La Défense Arena, where the swimming competitions take place. It was this episode that interrupted the women's 100-meter breaststroke race at the Olympics. As the swimmers were about to start, the speaker stopped everything due to the presence of an object in the water.
It was only a moment after the warning and a man appeared, seen live around the world, in a floral bathing suit, who walked along the entire edge of the pool until he dived to retrieve a swimming headset from the bottom of the pool. And so, to everyone's surprise, it turned into a tremendous success.
In La Defense Arena with the audience excited by this moment, journalists on live TV immediately christened the man as "Bob, the cap catcher".
Thus, while the athletes were already ready, the speaker asked them to get off the starting platform and wait, stopping the race: "It is a situation that often happens during competitions - explained the Olympic organizers -. We could not allow him to stay there and at that moment a quick and decisive intervention was needed".
All said and done, the situation was resolved immediately, but in a completely unbelievable way. On live television screens around the world, a man suddenly appeared in a floral bathing suit and without hesitation walked along the entire edge of the pool to reach the lane where the headset was placed in the water. He dived in and recovered, then exited the pool to allow the athletes to compete. The perfect stranger, who was not even an employee at the Olympics, won the hearts of the public.
