Trains go on strike in London, sex workers complain: There is no clientele

Last year's massive wave of strikes shows no sign of letting up, with strikes expected by train and bus drivers scheduled for January.

Kate Nicholls, chief executive of UK Hospitality, has pleaded with union leaders to come together and resolve their differences over fears that "leisure" businesses could lose the better part of the week's earnings.

But there is another hidden victim of escalating industrial strife: London's sex workers .

Emma from escort agency London Deluxe told the Daily Star that her company was losing over £20,000 a week as a result of the strikes, while other agencies were losing up to £70,000.

" My daughters have bills to pay. They're not making any money. It's never been like this before. I keep telling them it's going to go up, but this strike is having a massive impact on us ."

"From discussions with our customers, we know that many people in the escort industry have lost large sums of money from the train strikes because businessmen are unable to get in and out of the city." - said another agency worker.

Paul Nowak, general secretary of the TUC, has warned of a "continuous wave" of strikes through 2023 unless employers make significant concessions.

Speaking to Times Radio, Kate Nicholls said the financial hit to the sex industries could be over half a billion pounds.
