Eric Roberts, the brother of Julia Roberts has publicly apologized for the statements that she became famous because of him.
"I wish that Julia accepts this public apology. It was something worthless to say," he writes in his book, "Runaway Train: Or the Story of My Life So Far."
Eric is the father of Emma Roberts and over the years, he has taken credit for the acting careers of his daughter and sister.
In 2018, he told Vanity Fair: “If it wasn't for me, there would be neither Julia Roberts nor Emma Roberts as famous, as an actress, and I'm very proud of that. I am very proud that everyone knows that I was the first. I was the first to be nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award, so I'm very proud of that."
He even took credit for Julia's contract with WME.
The 68-year-old moved to New York at the age of 17 to become an actor. He succeeded with the role in the 1978 film "King of the Gypsies".
But his younger sister came to New York in 1985 and had a prolific career that surpassed her brother's.
Eric was addicted to cocaine and lost custody of his daughter, Emma, when she was still a baby.
He writes that the loss of custody was the "biggest consequence" of drug use.
