The consequences of infection with the coronavirus can last for more than 6 months, and this is already proven by a new study conducted in the United States.
They are the experts of the American National Institutes of Health, who came to the conclusion that Covid-19 causes damage not only to the respiratory tract but also to other organs, leaving deadly consequences.
Experts performed autopsies on 44 victims of the coronavirus, who were infected during the period from April 2020 to March 2021, which coincides with the first phase of the mass spread of the virus.
They found traces of inflammation in different parts of the body, apart from the lungs, also in the heart, brain, eyes, spleen, kidneys, liver, small intestine, muscles, nerves and even the reproductive system. In one case, traces of the RNA of the virus were even found in the body of a patient who had died 230 days after infection.
However, the study points out that the lungs have the most obvious signs of damage, while the brain and others do not seem to undergo significant changes despite the high viral load.
