Doctors in Turkey were left speechless when they witnessed an incident they had never encountered before. A 15-year-old was hospitalized with a USB charging cable in his gut.
The boy from Diyarbakır was rushed by his family to the hospital after complaining of nausea and stomach pain. An x-ray showed he had a charger inside his stomach.
The ambulance immediately sent him to the Firat University Hospital in Elagiz. There, pediatric gastroenterologist Yasar Dogan requested an endoscopic procedure for the boy.
When the head of pediatric gastroenterology and his team arrived, they released the child from the charger using the endoscopy method.
"We had a hard time removing the cable, as one end had passed through the small intestine," gastroenterologist Dogan said.
The charger was about a meter long and had a knot in the middle which made it even more difficult to remove. It remains to be seen how and why the 15-year-old ate the charger.
About a year ago, a 9-year-old boy in Scotland almost died after consuming six magnets following a TikTok challenge.
