Former Prime Minister and leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha , appeared today at the SPAK premises, in implementation of the "compulsory appearance" security measure imposed on him by the Court.
Berisha was accompanied by his lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, and, as every two weeks, appeared before the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, as part of the procedural commitments related to the ongoing investigations.
As in previous appearances, Berisha was greeted by his supporters who were waiting for him outside the SPAK premises, while he did not give any statements to the media.
Berisha is accused of having, in his capacity as prime minister at the time, taken concrete actions in approving laws and bylaws, where his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, was also a beneficiary for the construction of palaces on the land of the former Partizani sports complex. Malltezi is also accused of corruption but also of money laundering.
According to SPAK, he has benefited from income worth 5.4 million euros from a construction business in an irregular manner thanks to government decisions made by his father-in-law.
