Famed director Michael Bay is facing allegations that a pigeon was killed while filming Netflix's "6 Underground" five years ago in Italy, but he denies the allegations.
According to a report by "Wrap", the Italian authorities accuse the well-known director of killing a pigeon during the shooting of the film in 2018. In both Italy and the rest of Europe, pigeons are a protected species and it is illegal to catch, injure or kill them. The police even have a photo taken by a bystander as evidence.
Bay denies all charges and maintains that he has never harmed an animal in his life.
More specifically, he said:
"It is known that I love animals and I am a big animal activist. No animals involved in the film were harmed. Not in any other production I've worked on in the last 30 years. We have clear video evidence, numerous witnesses and security personnel to exonerate us. And they deny the paparazzi photo, which gives the wrong story. There is a lawsuit, so I can't go into details, but I am optimistic that we will prevail when the day comes in court. I was offered by the Italian authorities an opportunity to settle the matter by paying a small sum, but I refused to do so, because I will not accept the guilt of injuring an animal."
