After the 450 thousand euro fine imposed by the Communications Authority (Agcom) on Google Ireland, it is now the turn of the company Twitter International Unlimited, with its X platform. The focus of the Authority's attention is the issue related to the violation of the ban on game advertising of luck. At the end of the investigation, Elon Musk's company was fined 1.35 million euros, or 150 thousand euros for each of the 9 proven violations.
Despite this, the activity of the 20 profiles on X continued despite reports that it occurred from mid-2022 until the end of last summer. Among them are nine accounts with a blue tick, a matter which Agcom says cannot make X exempt from liability.
According to the Authority, in fact, the blue check means having an account with an active subscription to X Premium, a service that the company offers with a 72-hour verification of eligibility criteria. A procedure of this type, according to Agcom, cannot be carried out without human control, and this means that X could not not have known.
At the end of 2022, Elon Musk bought the Twitter platform for about 44 billion dollars, changing its name to X. From that period until today, the company has faced a series of problems from the internal organization, where they were fired about 75% of employees, up to disinformation in different states.
