For the first time in Great Britain, a baby was born using the DNA of 3 people. This means that this baby has genetic material from the mother, father and a female donor. If these are damaged, they can lead to brain damage, blindness and even heart problems. The process has led to the expression "three-parent baby", although more than 99.8% of DNA in babies comes from both mother and father.
