Well-known Albanian singer, Parashqevi Simaku, has reacted to a scandalous statement made on a show and which then spread rapidly on social media.
This is about the statement of a television personality, Shqipe Hysenaj, who said that the famous singer "had remained in that state because she took her friends' husbands."
In a statement on her official Facebook, Simaku does not mention the Albanian screen character by name, but responds by saying that these slanders remind her of the bitter period of the dictatorship, where even then, as today, she was talked about, mostly out of anger and envy.
Full reaction:
For 10 months, my name has been used as a target for people trying to attract attention through slander and untruths. I never thought I would have to react to such base things, which have no connection to reality.
But in fact, this is not the first time it has happened. Even in the years 1985–1988, people talked about me – about the awards I had won with a lot of work, dedication and sacrifice – but many of them spoke with anger and envy. Even then, as today, I chose not to stop.
Today I just want to tell you this: You can't do anything to me. My audience has known me for years and knows very well who I am, what I have given and what I represent.
If for a few clicks you choose to put someone else down with slander, rest assured: at that moment, you only put yourself down.
I continue my path with dignity and the truth at my side. This is my strength.
