A video broadcast by the American television station Abc7 has shocked the network. The image is thought to be of the famous Albanian singer Parashevi Simaku. In the video published by journalist Blendi Fevziu, a woman who bears a resemblance to the singer is seen receiving a "Blessing Bag" for the homeless from children.
The comments express the sadness that all Albanians feel as they see the woman who is suspected to be the beloved singer Parashqevi Simaku.
Parashqevi Simaku was born in September 1966 and first appeared on the stage of the Song Festival in 1983, when she was 17 years old. She came from Kavaja, from a simple family, to gain the trust and admiration of the public from her first appearances.
She sang at many festivals and Spring Concerts. In 1985 (the 24th Song Festival at "RTSH") she took first place with the song "Në të të rinishë", also in 1988 she won the first prize at the 27th Song Festival at "RTSH" with the song "E duam lumturinë", composed by Pirro Çako. Her repertoire includes a large number of interpretations. After 1991 she left and lived in the USA, also dealing with music there, and releasing a new album. The last time she appeared in Albania was in 1996 at the 35th Song Festival at "RTSH" as a guest. The icon of Albanian music left Albania in 1992 to start another life across the ocean, in America.
