A dog in Portugal named Bobi is considered the oldest dog in the world.

He is a Rafeiro do Alentejo dog and lives in the Leira district of Portugal, and is 30 years and 267 days old. His world record was recognized on February 1.

Bobby lives on a family-run farm in the village of Conqueiros.

Despite his age, the calm and sociable dog is still healthy enough to play with the family's four cats.

Family members believe that the secret of his longevity is the fact that he has always lived in the countryside in a quiet environment, surrounded by nature and likes to eat the same food as his owners.

Leonel Costa, Bob's owner, describes him as "special".

Costa still hopes that Bobby will one day father some puppies, as he is the last of a long line of animals.

"To see Bob's long life becoming a Guinness World Record holder is an incredible joy," he said.

Bob's age has been verified by SIAC, a pet database authorized by the Portuguese government and managed by the National Union of Veterinarians.
