According to this year's Worldwide Cost of Living Index, published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the average cost of living is set to increase by 8.1% in 2022, due to the Russian war in Ukraine and the ongoing effects of pandemic.
The war in Ukraine, Western sanctions against Russia and China's zero-Covid policies have caused supply chain problems that, combined with rising interest rates and exchange rate swings, have resulted in a cost-of-living crisis in the whole world.

There are also 4 European cities in the Top-10. Meanwhile, two Russian cities, Moscow and St. Petersburg, have seen a significant increase in cost of living expenses, while the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, did not enter the analysis this year.
To compile the list, more than 400 individual prices are compared, for more than 200 products and services in 172 cities.
