The sequel to the movie "Gladiator" has finally been confirmed, 23 years after the original, the date of the start of filming has been added, according to "The Sun".

It is one of the best action movies and now the successful director Ridley Scott is returning to the Roman epic "Gladiator" with a new sequel.

Word of a sequel to the historical drama has been swirling for five years, after the director hinted at a possible script that would allow him to revive the world brought to the screen by Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix.

And now, 23 years after the original, the production team has begun casting for the lead roles in a new film.

It is learned that the filming is planned for May.

Locations were chosen in the Moroccan city of Ouarzazate, which is building a reputation as a favorite location for filmmakers due to its landscapes.

It is thought that the young Lucius Verus, son of the Roman empress Lucilla, may provide the link to the original story.

It is hoped that the hero played by Russell will also appear in the new film as long as he is signing up for a role.

Maximus died at the end of the film and was seen reuniting with his slain wife and son.

The film could be ready by the end of 2024.
