Meta has received permission from the authorities to start training artificial intelligence models with public posts on Facebook and Instagram in the UK.
It is known that modern Artificial Intelligence models are essentially trained entirely on public data from the Internet. As these models began to gain popularity, the internet has become much stricter about the information it is willing to share.
Many large websites now block AI from accessing their data unless they are paid for it. So, using public data from Meta's social networking platforms seems like an easy choice to make.
European Union authorities have been reluctant to allow the tech giant to begin training. While after dialogue with the Information Commissioner's Office in the United Kingdom, Meta has received official permission to train models.
But it all rests on an unstable moral foundation. Many Internet users are concerned about the use of their data in the service of artificial intelligence.
However, this has not stopped almost every large company today from investing heavily in new technology. Meta AI, for example, is now present on WhatsApp. Also worth mentioning are Google's Gemini, Samsung's Galaxy AI and Apple Intelligence.
