The German giant Mercedes ran into financial problems in 1980 due to insufficient sales of spare parts for one of its most popular models.

The W123 was one of the most durable and best car models ever produced. The owners had only words of praise for the "unbreakable" type that often covered more than 1 million kilometers.

Maintenance of this model was cheap as it was almost non-existent except for routine services. But this was precisely one of the biggest problems of this line.

Mercedes faced financial problems in the 80s due to insufficient sales of spare parts for the W123. Namely, the car was so durable that parts were almost never sold.

It so happened that this car averaged 800,000 kilometers before its first major breakdown, making it one of the most durable cars ever.

According to many, the W123 was Mercedes' best and most popular model. It is based on the W116 S-Class. Its retro-futuristic design left a big mark on Mercedes cars.

It is known for its exceptional durability and safety. The 220 diesel and 250 petrol models were discontinued, while all other engines were beefed up. The W123 set a record of 3 million units sold. Also through this series, Mercedes introduced the Estate or "wagon" series of its cars.

The W123 is known as one of the most famous taxi cars.
