"When we met, we were both married", Rita Petro talks about the love
Latif Ajrullai and Rita Petro

The provocative writer, Rita Petro, was invited this Thursday to the "Rudina" show, to talk in more detail about her latest book, which is also her first novel after previously publishing several books of poetry. She spoke extensively about her book "Lindur e prapthi" and introduced us to some of the characters, but of course without revealing much.

And while talking about life and love, the book "Border" by her partner, Latif Ajrullai, who passed away in 2020 due to Covid-19, also came to attention. His book is dedicated precisely to the beautiful love they lived together.

The writer has shared more details about how they met, how their love was born and how they managed to maintain balance by trying to live their love without hurting their families, since at the time they met they were both married.

Rita Petro : It seems to me that together we are both stars. This kind of thing doesn't always happen to you, you can love many people, flirt with many people, but it's another thing when the stars shine on you. I think it was the greatest luck in my life.

Rudina Magjistari : Can it be called the greatest love of your life?

Rita Petro:  Yes, yes. It was a love that took you down a path rarely taken but lifted you up spiritually and we realized all the dreams we had had since we were young. We met at an age when I was 37, he was 45 and we spent over 20 years together.

Rudina Magjistari:  He was an Albanian from North Macedonia. You went on a business trip and you met there, right?

Rita Petro : Yes, it is interesting that I went to a poetry festival and he was a professor of chemistry, it had nothing to do with poetry. He was surprised by my poem that we were told to read patriotic poems, but I had no patriotic poems and I read one of my love poems. I said that the subtext was about the homeland, but it was exactly a love poem and the normal one who fell in love with me. We met often.

Rudina Magjistari : A story was born in difficult circumstances, right? Did he have a family in the meantime?

Rita Petro : In addition to this part, the borders were also completely occupied, because it was the war in Kosovo, the war in Macedonia. Even when we met and crossed borders, only soldiers looked. Anything could happen and we still met, so it's like a movie love.

Rita Petro : When we first met, when we wanted to meet each other, when we decided together then to be together... Then it became open as a relationship, but the fact that we tried to maintain balance even with the children, I have tried even with the ex-husband, with whom we still meet today and respect each other, we have tried not to create wounds, especially in the children; the fact that today we continue together with Latif's son and his daughter, they are adults and have their own children, but we understand each other very well. This shows how important it is that love is not blind, you must also think about others. I know how hard it is! You have to protect love and protect those whom you have hurt.
