Today is World Turkish Coffee Day, which has been registered on UNESCO's Intangible World Heritage List since 2013.

It was an initiative of the Turkish state, to honor the oldest method of making coffee, the most famous drink in the whole world. Turkish coffee began to be made in the 16th century and today it has history, rituals, but it has also become a way of life.

In addition to the stronger aroma, Turkish coffee has a special way of preparation and serving. After ripening, it is ground very finely and boiled in jezve (a conical vessel with a long tail).

Unlike many other versions it is not filtered and served in small cups. The more foam there is, the more Turkish coffee is valued. Compared to other ways of preparing coffee, Turkish coffee is healthier and if consumed without sugar it is a powerful antioxidant.

The drink appreciated by UNESCO, for all those who consume it, is more than just a drink. It is a powerful tool to bring people together and improve the connections between them. As an old expression in Turkey says "A good Turkish coffee will be remembered even after 40 years".
