What are the most common mistakes we make with jeans that ruin their color and shape? Can our jeans live a little longer if we take care of them?
Put everything in your pocket
The pockets are designed to put something small, for example facoleta or money. However, many people use jeans pockets as a substitute for bags, so they put everything in them: cell phones, keys, lipstick, cigarettes, lighters, etc.
Washing too often
The more often you wash your jeans, the more their color will fade and the material will become increasingly thin and they will tear, especially in the parts that are under certain pressure: in the knees or in the of the rear.
It is recommended to wash them once every two or three weeks, of course if they are not visibly dirty.
Washing temperature too high
The high temperature destroys the structure of the threads, therefore the jeans become more susceptible to tearing but also change their shape. To keep them longer, wash them at lower temperatures and in fewer spin cycles. It would be ideal to wash them by hand.
Tumble dry
Drying jeans in the dryer, or even exposing them to strong sunlight, destroys the texture and color of the jeans.
Aggressive scrubbing of stains
This is a big mistake, because in places of friction, in addition to the stain, the color will also disappear. Instead, remove stains gently with a special product or a homemade mixture.
Put them on a hanger
If you want them to keep their shape, after washing and drying them, fold them and put them in the closet. Avoid placing them on hangers, because their weight combined with gravity will stretch them, thus changing their shape.
