Map: See what your hometown looked like in the age of dinosaurs?

A website gives users the chance to travel back in time to see what cities looked like at different times in Earth's history.

240 million years ago, our planet looked very different from what we know today, because all the contents were merged into one. This supercontinent was called Pangea and was inhabited by birds, mammals and dinosaurs.

Today, Internet users can see what this huge land mass looked like when it was formed by the movement of tectonic plates, thanks to a web application called dinosaurpictures.org , which was developed by former Google engineer Ian Webster. , reports the IFL Science portal.

Webster used data from oceanic and continental plate tectonics, as well as paleogeographic maps for the past 1.1 billion years from the Paleomap project, which was created by American geologist Christopher Scotese, to model the shape of the Earth at different times.

Users will be able to select maps to see how Pangea spread across the current six continents as well as see what their homeland looked like when the first hominids appeared or when the dinosaurs became extinct.
