Dani Alves was found not guilty of sexual assault charges just a few days ago.
The Barcelona court ruled that there was insufficient evidence, overturning the sentence of 4 years and 6 months.
Now, the former Brazilian footballer may also seek substantial damages. Meanwhile, his wife, Joana Sanz , has announced in a post on social media that she is pregnant for the first time.
Dani Alves acquitted of sexual assault charges
The former Barcelona footballer was arrested in January 2023 and a year later was sentenced to over four years in prison for sexual violence.
However, the situation has now completely changed.
The Spanish court's decision overturned the previous conviction, after the panel found the alleged victim's testimony unreliable and found inconsistencies in the first-instance decision.
A big turnaround in favor of Dani Alves, who lost tens of millions of euros due to the withdrawal of sponsors and, above all, ended up in prison before being officially convicted.
Joana Sanz's announcement on social media
Just a few days after this decision, Joana Sanz, Alves' model and wife, was put in the spotlight.
When the scandal happened, she broke up with him, but they later reconciled, which brought a lot of criticism on social media towards her.
Now, Sanz has made a significant announcement that she is pregnant.
In a long post, she spoke about her life, the challenges and difficulties she has gone through in the past:
"I lost my mother two years ago, I no longer have parents or siblings. This void has accompanied me until the day I first heard my child's heartbeat. I didn't want to share this news until it was obvious. I have never had a maternal instinct. Five years ago I was afraid of becoming a mother, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to work and that I would lose myself. I have had several miscarriages over the years. I have had surgery on my fallopian tubes, I have suffered from endometriosis and I have undergone two in vitro fertilizations. The frustration and the question 'why does everyone get pregnant as if by magic, while I don't?' has accompanied me for a long time. I have learned to achieve everything with work and perseverance.
My last frozen embryo was my last hope. I believe my mother sent it to me so I wouldn't feel alone anymore.
So that I could experience life. Everything comes in its own time, don't give up.
