Europe is in danger and its security is threatened by external actors. This is what the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, said during the meeting with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Stenmaier, the first of a French President in 24 years. Macron has a gloomy forecast for the future of Europe and therefore wants to have a positive union in the European elections in June.

"I think we are experiencing a moment in our Europe that is existential, because I really believe that our Europe can die. There is a kind of fascination with authoritarianism that is born in our own democracies which also feeds nationalism and other extremes on the continent. ours", said Macron.

Emmanuel Macron made the comments while speaking alongside Germany's head of state, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on his first three-day state visit. Macron called for more support for peace and the strengthening of national sovereignty. During his state visit to Germany, Emmanuel Macron reserved warm words for his host and dismissed claims that relations between the two countries have begun to weaken.

"To be on the side of peace today means to give force to the law. Peace, but not capitulation. Peace is not the abandonment of principles. We have seen this confusion too often in collective debates. Peace means to enable a country to defend its borders and international sovereignty to build a lasting peace", Macron emphasized.

"We would have abandoned support for Ukraine against Russia, which all nationalists in our countries support. And, therefore, history would not have been the same,” claimed the French president who promised more support for Kiev. Macron is the only foreigner invited to the Democracy Party marking the 75th anniversary of the German Constitution in Berlin.
