It sounds like a fairy tale, a story worthy of a cartoon, the kind of stories your grandmothers used to tell you to lull you to sleep. And instead, what happened in the last few days in Vernazza, a small town in the Cinque Terre in Liguria, is actually a reality, a reality that is not fiction, according to "La Stampa " .

Tiger the cat watched over the grave of her lifelong friend Mussi the cat for days. The latter was sick some time ago. He lived on the street, but often, when he was fit, he would wander around and hit one of the many trails in the area.

In particular on the Blue Path, between the towns of Corniglia and Vernazza.

In this area overlooking the sea, Mussi had met two close friends: the man Pierpaolo Paradisi, able to convince him that it was time to sleep in a warm and comfortable bed, although always outside, and the Tiger, an old 15-year-old cat who has always been the tenant of that wonderful place.

"Strange but true that two cats got along so well," said a historian who collected and published the story, yet Mussi adored Tiger, he rubbed shoulders with him as soon as he saw him. They were really close to each other.

A strong friendship, destined to last for a very long time had he not been ill.

Mussi did not like veterinary studies, too wild and independent. So much so that the doctor had to go up there to see him, not before the cat was caught.

"He was in his last days, we pampered him and took care of him as if he were a king," said a moved Pierpaolo.

"Then came the saddest moment, that of saying goodbye. Heartbroken, I buried him in the garden, hidden by his friend, the Tiger. I dug a hole for him right where he liked to sunbathe," he said.

And here comes the shocking twist. The tiger, which had also seen nothing of the burial, practically every day stands in that very place, lying in the sun.

"I am unable to say whether there is some mysterious language through which cats communicate or hear, but the reality is that Tiger is standing there, right where Mussi is buried, and he is almost waiting for his friend to come out or, at least , to send him a signal, a message of his presence. He knows it's there, he definitely feels it," he added.
