The singer of Albanian origin, Bebe Rexha, has recently given a new interview for the well-known magazine "Rolling Stone".

She spoke about her career, her new album titled "Baby" but above all about her personal life. During the interview, the magazine also wrote about the origin of the Albanian artist, telling the story of the family's relocation from North Macedonia to the United States of America.

"Both her parents are Albanian, with her father immigrating to the USA from North Macedonia at the age of 21 in the late eighties, before the Yugoslav Wars," the magazine writes.

"They are more paranoid. More stressed ," Bebe says about her family.

“I feel like I got some of those qualities from my family, but you have to learn how to pull from that. No one ever talks about the trauma of generations", added the singer.

Rexha channeled her culture in a different way in one of the songs of the "Bebe" album, which is titled "I Am", which she composed after the Supreme Court decided to ban abortion in America.

This decision made her think about her roots and the ingrained misogyny she sees in Albanian culture.

"Don't get me wrong, I love my culture and my background and I hate to say it, but sometimes I feel like women are treated like second-class citizens in my country," she says.

"Men eat first. Men talk. It's all about the men and then the women come in. If I want to listen to something that makes me feel powerful and sing it, then it's the song 'I Am' from the album 'Bebe', concluded the singer.
