Art in mourning, the singer of the famous Italian hit "Sara perche ti
Franco Gatti

The well-known Italian singer, Franco Gatti, member of the historical group "Ricchi e Poveri", passed away at the age of 80.

The news has been confirmed by his family, as Gatti has closed his eyes forever in the Genoa hospital. Media across the Adriatic report that the singer had long distanced himself from the group, following the sudden death of his son Alessio in 2013, when he was just 23 years old.

"A part of our life is gone. Goodbye Franko", says the group's statement. Although he considered his musical activity closed, in 2020 he participated in the group's reunion in Sanremo. The group was formed in 1967 and was named by Franco Califano because they were "rich in ideas but poor in money".

The group sang several hits, where among the most popular songs is "Sara perche ti amo", a song that is still liked today.
